This book presents the main findings of a study on school learning environments and student outcomes, which the World Bank conducted in 2019 in three regions of the Russian Federation. Using data collected through the OECD School User Survey and the pilot "Trends in Mathematics and Science Study"? (TIMSS), the book analyzes how a school's infrastructure and learning environment may affect the progress and success of students in math and science. It also delves into teaching practices, analyzing their impact on learning and highlighting the important nexus between learning environments and teaching methods. The book concludes by recommending areas in which focused attention by educational authorities could improve educational policy and help maintain high-quality learning environments. The book will be useful for educators, school principals, architects, and policy makers who are involved in school infrastructure projects and are interested in increasing their knowledge of school design planning.

Méca-Fluid is a company providing equipment such as industrial valves and pneumatic components. In a more and more digitalized environment and a world ruled by new technologies, the company realized the importance of an active online presence. By wishing to launch an e-commerce, the company pursues three main goals: first, the company wants to offer a brand new sales channel and quality services to its consumers, then it wishes to increase its visibility and develop this new prospecting and sales channel and finally to develop and strengthen its brand awareness and brand image as a specialist. In order to suggest a strategy to fulfill these goals, I carried out a business model of the company. It allowed me to discover how important the quality of the relationships the company maintains with its consumers is. Then, I conducted a benchmark analysis which showed me that only one competitor of Méca-Fluid actually sells its products online. This brought me to the realization that an ecommerce represents a real growth opportunity for the company. After that, I carried out a customer survey which, among others, made me realize how customers are attached to the quality of services provided by Méca-Fluid, that only a few of them spend time on social medias during business hours whereas lots of them use search engines and some of them show interest in an industrial blog and newsletters. Since the company has a limited budget, it can’t afford to implement all the digital marketing tools I suggested. This is why I ranked the tools to implement first to offer a great service quality for consumers on the website, to increase company’s visibility on search engines and to develop the company’s brand awareness and brand image. Finally, after launching its website, I advise the company to carry out a user testing and implement websites analytics tools in order to get precious information about its audience and its behavior.

Over the past few decades, modern information technology has made a significant impact on people’s daily lives worldwide. In the field of health care and prevention, there has been a progressing penetration of assistive health services such as personal health records, supporting apps for chronic diseases, or preventive cardiological monitoring. In 2020, the range of personal health services appeared to be almost unmanageable, accompanied by a multitude of different data formats and technical interfaces. The exchange of health-related data between different healthcare providers or platforms may therefore be difficult or even impossible. In addition, health professionals are increasingly confronted with medical data that were not acquired by themselves, but by an algorithmic “black box”. Even further, externally recorded data tend to be incompatible with the data models of classical healthcare information systems.From the individual’s perspective, digital services allow for the monitoring of their own health status. However, such services can also overwhelm their users, especially elderly people, with too many features or barely comprehensible information. It therefore seems highly relevant to examine whether such “always at hand” services exceed the digital literacy levels of average citizens.In this context, this reprint presents innovative, health-related applications or services emphasizing the role of user-centered information technology, with a special focus on one of the aforementioned aspects.
