"Wij slaven van Suriname' van Anton de Kom is pas in 2020 opgenomen in de Nederlandse Canon, maar was al lang canoniek. Het is de eerste tekst over het kolonialisme van Nederland in Suriname en de Nederlands-Caraèibische eilanden. Voor Surinamers is het boek een klassieker. De Kom richtte zich met zijn boek echter ook tot Nederlanders. Net als Multatuli, die met zijn 'Max Havelaar' grote invloed had, wilde ook De Kom bij de koloniale heersers iets teweegbrengen met zijn boek.'Wij slaven van Suriname' is een wonderlijke tekst: deels een woedende aanklacht, deels een spannende geschiedenis die leest als een roman. Het is een gloedvol betoog over hoe Nederland Suriname eeuwenlang uitbuitte en verwaarloosde, van 1667 tot aan 1934, het jaar waarin De Koms meesterwerk verscheen. 'Wij slaven van Suriname' is een onmisbaar werk voor het onderwijs, met thema's als kolonialisme, racisme, ongelijkheid, geweld en wat dat betekent voor de culturele identiteit.'

"In Sources of Slavic Pre-Christian Religion Juan Antonio Álvarez-Pedrosa presents the original texts as well as English translations of all known medieval sources that inform us about the religion practiced by the Slavs before their Christianization. Since the Slavs did not have a written culture before their conversion to Christianity, all the texts were authored by people who were involved in this long process or in contact with the Slavs. For this reason, the texts come from a lengthy period from the ninth to the fifteenth century.
