Rather, its purpose is practical, namely, to present the philosophical roots of scientific psychology in a simple manner and in concise form. Aux fondements du réel, il y a une écriture. Cette proposition est l'hypothèse posée au début de cet ouvrage. Par une étude des matériaux préhistoriques des premières traces écrites, l'auteur va concevoir le trait de l'écrit comme ce qui est à même de rendre compte de cette opération : l'écriture du réel. Tout ceci participe d'un édifice conceptuel où sont convoqués Leroi-Gourhan, Freud et Lacan. C'est à partir de ce dernier que sera travaillé ce qu'il faut entendre par réel, qui n'est pas la réalité mais la limite du symbolique. À partir de deux études esthétiques, des oeuvres de Guyotat et de Réquichot, sera démontré ce que l'angoisse doit à l'écriture du réel dans sa mise en forme du trait de l'écrit. Le corps écrivant dans l'après coup d'une rencontre avec le réel, nous offre a priori des oeuvres qui doivent moins au sens qu'au témoignage que quelque chose a eu lieu. Est précisée alors une ontologie de l'accident qui participe à une philosophie du sujet.
