The aim of the Thematic Doctoral School in Process Engineering (EDT GEPROC) is to promote multidisciplinary doctoral research in the various fields of application of process engineering. It is therefore quite logical that the 2nd thematic day of reflection organized by the EDT-GEPROC was devoted to the theme of Process Engineering applied to the bio-industries (agri-food, agrofuels and energy, environment, pharmaceutical industry). This event was held on December 16, 2009 on the site of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech. It brought together 80 participants from the 4 university institutions that are part of the EDT GEPROC (ULg, UMONS, ULB and UCL). It is important at this level to note also the participation of several representatives of the industrial world. Indeed, the contact between PhD students and the industrial world is one of the objectives of the EDT GEPROC. The following program was spread over half a day Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

This book systematically introduces the powder bed laser melting technology and its application and summarizes the author's team's experience in scientific research, engineering development, and data accumulation in recent 15 years. It includes in-depth theoretical analysis and a lot of engineering experience in equipment debugging, process development, and material testing. The book takes the powder bed laser melting technology as the object and divides the content into 15 chapters. It is used as technical learning materials for researchers and engineering development personnel engaged in metal 3D printing.

Currently, manufacturing engineering assumes a great importance to industrialized countries (G7) and countries with emerging economies (BRICS). Manufacturing engineering is a discipline of engineering ""dealing with different manufacturing practices and the research and development of systems, processes, machines, tools and equipment"". Manufacturing engineering is important to several advanced industries such as automotive, aeronautic, aerospace, alternative energy, moulds and dies, biomedical, etc. This book aims to provide research and review studies on manufacturing engineering.
