Um politische Repräsentation jenseits von Wahlen verstehen zu können und für nicht-gewählte Interessengruppen nutzbar zu machen, erweitert Erik Jentges bestehende Theorien durch soziologische Konzepte von Weber, Elias, Bourdieu und Canetti. Er zeigt, dass Stellvertretungsfigurationen durch Charismatisierungsprozesse und Repräsentationsansprüche strukturiert werden - und dass dabei jene Anerkennung entstehen kann, in der die soziale Magie politischer Repräsentation zu wirken beginnt.
