With the Christian church in the west in decline, some churches are undergoing difficult transitions as they seek to become relevant, to both themselves and their surrounding cultures. Evangelicalism and the Emerging Church details an ethnographic study of a Vineyard congregation making sense of their Vineyard roots and their growing relationship with the self-proclaimed "emerging church" network. Through a rich account of congregational life and tensions, universal issues are raised such as relating to religious parentage, creating safe places for spirituality, Christian growth and maturity, communication with contemporary culture, and the challenges of identity reconstruction. This book is the first to conduct an academic study of a Vineyard congregation in the United Kingdom.

This volume combines the presentations of the 13th Göttingen workshop on family law, which was held on October 31, 2014, and which dealt with the family law consequences of fertility treatment with foreign germ cells. Since a German reproductive medicine law is missing, central questions of parentage law (such as the legal assignment of the child to the parent of choice) have to be solved more poorly than right with the regulations aimed at natural reproduction. For decades, reforms have therefore been advised and the highest judicial jurisdiction is increasingly taking on the task of developing solutions by means of judicial legal training. The articles in this volume provide an overview of the current discussion about a reform of parentage law and supplement it by integrating constitutional, comparative and interdisciplinary aspects. Volume 17 of the “Göttingen Legal Writings” series: The series is published by the law faculty of the Georg-August University and makes events at the faculty accessible to an interested public.

While the Allied Control Council repealed many German laws passed under Nazi rule, the majority of such laws remained in force. After 1945, German courts faced the task of applying legal norms from the Nazi period under fundamentally altered conditions. This study describes the ways they dealt with this challenge using the examples of family and labor law.

This addresses current advances and challenges in fisheries and aquaculture science. Exposure of larval fish to elevated temperatures during embryological development may induce craniofacial and morphological alterations, which are suggested possible impacts of global warming. Molecular markers shed new light on the ontogenetic migration of stream fishes. Fast growth rates, early age at maturity, moderate fecundity, and diverse diet explain the potential for introduced fishes to dominate fish communities in their native and introduced range. Taking videos of marine benthic habitats supports low-impact, real-time monitoring of species occurrence. Among heavily fished species, almost half had outdated demographic assessments that would benefit from the integration of data from fisheries sources and improved collaboration among fishery stakeholders and managers. The continued growth of aquaculture will depend upon developing feeds that improve the growth, oxidative status, and immune response of fed cultured organisms. New aquaculture feedstuffs might be derived from plants or microbes, and new additives would include ghrelins and dietary symbiotics. The effects of these constituents on survival, growth, gut histomorphology, immune response were assessed for cultured freshwater and marine species. The results provide suggestions for advances in aquafeeds for the species studied and for cultured fishes more generally. The scientific advances realized with the use of new tools provide the basis for addressing global challenges to fisheries, aquaculture and for ongoing scientific research.
