Annotation This special feature issue has been initiated to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). In OCT, broad bandwidth light is used in order to produce cross sectional images of turbid and translucent samples with high axial resolution (in the order of a few m). The imaging speed of OCT can be as high as several millions of depth scans (A-scans) per second which allows for various applications in different fields. This special feature issue consists of three overview papers covering OCT angiography, polarization-sensitive OCT and dental applications of OCT. Additional applications and the latest developments in OCT are covered in nine research papers. The latest developments presented in this issue include magnetomotive OCT, resonant Doppler OCT, full field OCT, new segmentation algorithms and depth range extension. Applications of OCT are widely spread and range from quality control in tooth prostheses and coating thickness measurements in the automotive industry to the assessment of degradation of coatings and alveolar dynamics.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has dramatically revolutionized ophthalmology in the clinical setting. It has become an indispensable tool for ophthalmologists, enabling them to visualize and diagnose several different ocular diseases. With the advent of OCT, the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases have become even more accurate, efficient, and patient friendly. A new generation of OCT technology with increased resolution and speed has been developed, achieving in vivo optical biopsy (i.e., visualization of tissue architectural morphology in situ and in real-time). Functional extensions of OCT technology enable noninvasive, depth-resolved functional assessment and tissue imaging. This comprehensive and richly illustrated guide enables the reader to identify the anatomy and ophthalmic pathologies illustrated by OCT. It is the most up-to-date book on OCT. All the major pathological areas of ophthalmology are covered, including macular degeneration, uveitis, glaucoma, vascular diseases, and glaucoma abnormalities, as well as other hot topics.

This academic thesis by Abbas Al-Hawasi explores the use of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to examine retinal ganglion cells and their potential to reflect physiological and pathological changes in the eye and brain. The study investigates the effects of various conditions such as optic neuritis, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, and multiple sclerosis on retinal structures. It highlights how OCT can identify changes in retinal layers, offering insights into disease progression and physiological impacts. The work is intended for a medical and academic audience, particularly those in ophthalmology and neuroscience, aiming to enhance understanding and diagnostic capabilities in eye and brain health.

As one of the many by-products of Moore's Law, personal computers have, in recent decades, become powerful enough to record real-time eye movements with video-based eye trackers. The decrease in the prices of eye tracking systems (ETSs) has been accelerating since the 1990's, and their use in a variety of scientific domains expanding. ETSs and related applications have shown a lot of promise in recent years, and their widespread and ever-increasing use in mainstream/personal equipment for dail...
