Ce livre explique pourquoi et montre comment les normes techniques, les standards, les évaluations sont en train de concurrencer et parfois de supplanter les règles juridiques dans tous les domaines importants de la vie sociale -- Tout le monde constate l’emprise croissante des normes techniques (les standards) et des dispositifs de gestion, d’évaluation et de classement (les indicateurs). Ceux-ci n’ont pas reçu jusqu’à présent toute l’attention qu’ils méritent alors qu’ils contribuent pourtant pour beaucoup à la régulation des sociétés contemporaines et qu’ils font chaque jour aux règles juridiques et aux institutions politiques une concurrence plus exacerbée. Le présent ouvrage tente de combler partiellement cette lacune. Il réunit des contributions, d’une part, sur la philosophie des normes et, d’autre part, sur des standards et indicateurs qui jouent un rôle important dans notre monde contemporain, notamment les normes ISO, les indicateurs de la Banque mondiale, les agences de notation financière, la normalisation et la managérialisation de la Justice et de l’Université
