Abstract

Le prochain référendum relatif à la « constitution » européenne est un rendez-vous historique des Français avec la France. Faut-il dire « oui » ? Faut-il dire « non » ? L’enjeu est capital. Aussi ceux qui occupent quasi exclusivement les médias ne reculent devant aucune désinformation pour forcer la décision et cela, jusque et y compris, hélas, dans les rangs de ceux qui se prétendent encore héritiers du gaullisme… contre de Gaulle. C’est pourquoi, Pierre Maillard, Ambassadeur de France, ancien conseiller diplomatique du Général de 1959 à 1964, période décisive de sa politique européenne et du rapprochement franco-allemand, veut témoigner. En effet, il ne pouvait laisser sans réponse les contrevérités manifestes que les voix les plus officielles se permettent de répandre sur le problème de la Constitution européenne en général, et sur la question de la Turquie en particulier. Non, le général de Gaulle n’approuverait certainement pas un texte dit « constitutionnel » complexe, ambigu et très dangereux pour la survie de la France, à l’exact opposé de tous ses efforts d’européen convaincu ! Non, le général de Gaulle n’a jamais envisagé, ni même imaginé, que la Turquie, pays ami mais profondément différent par son histoire et sa géographie, puisse être intégré dans une Europe fédérale dont il rejetait par ailleurs le principe ! Dans un texte très court et synthétique, éclairé par les leçons reçues du Général, Pierre Maillard fait, avec autorité et fermeté, justice d’une triple trahison à l’égard du général de Gaulle, de l’Europe et donc de la France

Abstract

This book collects scientific papers and reports presented on the conference ‘The Membership of Bulgaria in the EU: Ten Years Later’ organized by the International Economic Relations and Business Department at University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference, held on 20 October 2017 was dedicated to the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. The book begins with a welcoming speech by Ivelina Vasileva, Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria as well as chair of the Environment and Water Committee and deputy chairperson of the Committee on European Affairs and Oversight of the European Funds to the National Assembly. She highlighted the benefits for Bulgaria from its membership in the European Union supported by most recent empirical data. Stimulating effect to the Bulgarian economy was provided by the European budget through the European Structural and Investment Funds. There was a progress noted in terms of infrastructure, regional development, Cohesion, competitiveness, employment effects, healthcare and environmental actions. The contributors to the present edition of the book explore topics such as European integration and Cohesion, trade effects to the Bulgarian economy, European Union budget, EU financial tendencies, fiscal stability and level of indebtedness, capital markets. Researchers dedicate attention to contemporary issues such as EU strategic goals, EU energy union and environmental policies. The overall progress and stage of development of the EU and its institutional system are being discussed as well as democracy. Abstract

The main objective of this project is to conduct an in-dept analysis on the main dimensions of the European Energy Union as well as to formulate recommendations on the benefits that Bulgaria could derive from its membership in this union and how in particular our country could materialize these benefits. To achieve these goals, we have completed the following research tasks: 1) An overview of the contemporary foreign and Bulgarian specialized economic literature in the relevant field has been conducted; analysis and summarization of the theoretical research in the European Energy Union field; 2) Analysis of the EU energy policy development which led to the establishment of the European Energy Union; 3) Overview of the strategic EU documents pertaining to the European Energy Union; 4) Analysis of the applicable legislative acts regarding the European Energy Union in Bulgaria and the coherence of this legal framework with the European law. Analysis on the national and the European legal framework of the European Energy Union.

This book collects scientific papers and reports presented on the conference ‘The Membership of Bulgaria in the EU: Nine Years Later’ organized by the International Economic Relations and Business Department at University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference, held on 7 October 2016, was dedicated to the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Abstract

This book collects scientific papers and reports presented on the conference ‘The Membership of Bulgaria in the EU: Five Years Later’ organized by the International Economic Relations and Business Department at University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference, held on 15 October 2012, traditionally provided a stage for prominent academics, dedicated PhD students and professionals to discuss contemporary topics related to multiple aspects of the European integration, its effects on the Bulgarian economy, socio-economic environment, international business and relations, finance and politics. The contributors to this edition review the recent changes in the EU’s budgetary policy, the progress of the banking union as well as the political union and sentiments among the member states. Another thematic circle are the consequences of the financial crisis and the changes introduced to the banking sector, especially regarding the monitoring, supervisory mechanisms and capital requirements. Following the same context, the macroeconomic imbalance procedure is being discussed, analysis on the regional economic integration of Bulgaria, competitiveness, and country’s external trade is presented as well as a research on the public procurement procedures. Readers would find more on the climate change implications, energy security in the EU and the utilization of renewables as a tool to address those concerns. Abstract

This book collects scientific papers and reports presented on the conference ‘The Membership of Bulgaria in the EU: Eight Years Later’ organized by the International Economic Relations and Business Department at University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference, held on 2 October 2015, traditionally provided a stage for prominent academics, dedicated PhD students and professionals to discuss contemporary topics related to multiple aspects of the European integration, its effects on the Bulgarian economy, value chain and socio-economic environment, international business and relations, financial markets and banking.The contributors to this edition of the annual conference book reviewed the European integration and development though the perspectives of the fiscal and political measures to tackle the consequences of the financial crisis in both the Euro area and the other EU member states, implications on the banking sector, foreign direct investment, risk mitigation. The financial crisis and the results in the aftermath of it (capital liquidity imbalances, fiscal instability, banking volatility, quantitative easings and Euro area performance indicators, to name a few) are dominating among the majority of authors’ research. The contributors review issues related to the corporate management, corporate governance, sustainable education, organizational design, digital marketing, ethical PR and media, talent development in large organizations.
