Die stetige Verschärfung der Emissionsgrenzwerte von Verbrennungsmotoren seitens des Gesetzgebers erfordert die Weiterentwicklung und Verbesserung von Technologien der katalytischen Abgasnachbehandlung.Das Ziel dieser Arbeit besteht daher in der Weiterentwicklung eines detaillierten, auf Elementarschritten basierenden Reaktionsmechanismus für die Edelmetallkomponente Platin und die Entwicklung eines Modells zur numerischen Simulation eines NOx-Speicher/Reduktionskatalysators (NSC).

The aim of the present work is the mathematical modeling of solid bowl centrifuges for the dynamic simulation of separation processes in real time. The developed compartment model couples the residence time behavior with the material properties and thus allows a time and space-resolved simulation for solid bowl centrifuges. The profound insights into the separation process open up not only a better design, but also new fields of application such as the dynamic flowchart simulation.

The objective of this book is to present an uncertainty modeling approach using a new type of fuzzy system model via "Fuzzy Functions". Since most researchers on fuzzy systems are more familiar with the standard fuzzy rule bases and their inference system structures, many standard tools of fuzzy system modeling approaches are reviewed to demonstrate the novelty of the structurally different fuzzy functions, before we introduced the new methodologies. To make the discussions more accessible, no special fuzzy logic and system modeling knowledge is assumed. Therefore, the book itself may be a reference for some related methodologies to most researchers on fuzzy systems analyses. For those readers, who have knowledge of essential fuzzy theories, Chapter 1, 2 should be treated as a review material. Advanced readers ought to be able to read chapters 3, 4 and 5 directly, where proposed methods are presented. Chapter 6 demonstrates experiments conducted on various datasets.

The aim of this work is to reduce energy costs by improving the classification properties and reducing the pressure drop. In addition to design measures, the focus is also on model development. For the development of the models, a deeper understanding of the flow processes is required.

In recent years economists have begun to use the techniques of non-linear dynamics to show that some apparently erratic and turbulent economic phenomena reflect subtle underlying patterns. How do cyclic and chaotic dynamics arise in economic models of equilibrium? How can empirical methods be used to detect nonlinearities and cyclic and chaotic structures in economic models? In examining these questions, this book brings together the most significant work that has been done to date in economics-based chaos theory.
