Abstract

BEA – a Belgian company – is a worldwide reference for detection solutions for automatic doors. The company designs, develops and markets its sensors.
Today, the company is still growing through its presence on new key markets. This master thesis analyses the market potential of loading docks security. BEA wishes to use its experience to consider the use of detectors in the loading dock environment.

The market study was carried out using a qualitative approach:
After the global diagnosis of the environment and trends on the loading dock market, this thesis describes the sector and the different types of market players. Thanks to an introspective view of the company, it was also possible to highlight BEA's strengths and weaknesses in relation to the market. In addition, a description of the loading docks and their use was made to highlight the risks and needs of the market.
Consequently, the value propositions for the main types of actors in the sector are discussed. The master thesis then describes the targeting and positioning proposed for this specific market.
The last point focuses on the results in relation to the market potential analysed and the author's recommendations for BEA.

Abstract

The project thesis discussed here aims to evaluate the potential of the market linked to wastewater treatment plants targeting pharmaceuticals.
Indeed, questions around the effects of pharmaceuticals on the environment have been raised in the recent years. With this idea in mind, CMI decided to develop a wastewater treatment plant dedicated to hospitals, who are responsible for 20% of this drug pollution. A special attention has been dedicated to hospitals from Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Denmark.
In order to know better hospitals, some research and analysis have been conducted. It turned out that there were a huge disparity, regarding hospitals’ organization, within the different countries studied. We could find some differences regarding the size of the markets, with Germany the biggest and Luxemburg the smallest, but also regarding the organization of the hospitals systems. These analysis have always showed that purchase motivations are regulations related and that at the moment the market is completely unregulated regarding pharmaceuticals in wastewater.
Regarding the competition, this innovative project is well positioned. Its process and its main characteristics are not yet present on the market. Indeed, the technological aspects of the products guarantee smaller prices and less maintenance requirements than the competition.
When taking into considerations all the characteristics of the market, two different elements stand out. First, CMI must confirm the efficiency of its product. Without this credibility, CMI will have strong difficulties to establish itself on different markets. Second, it seems that without a strong legislative canvas, potential of markets remains very limited. In order to tackle this problem, lobbying strategies at a regional level have been imagined. It is a combination of technology efficiency and strong lobbying that could lead CMI to success on this particular market.

Abstract

This document goes through the different steps of the project from the birth of its idea until its development, that aims at the elaboration of a food order and delivery company from local businesses from short supply chains. It consists in validating the project by scientific studies on the one hand, and by consumers via a field survey on the other hand. The goal of this work is to explore the feasibility of the creation of the company in order to define the necessary foundations for a future business plan.
This study aims at walking the reader through the different stages of the development of the idea by means of various tools. The literature review confirms the project from a theorical point of view while the market analysis verifies the idea in the field. A consumer survey has been distributed in this context and interviews with local actors have been conducted. Moreover, the market study is completed by a PESTEL analysis in order to understand the opportunities and threats the company is exposed to a global level. Finally, in order to approach the local market, a competition analysis according to the Five Forces model of PORTER is carried out.
The results obtained from the scientific articles and from the market study are then transcribed in the Business Model Canvas (BMC) in order to get a business model in a pictorial way. Finally, a roadmap is carried out to list tasks that need to be realized and to be delegated. Those make it possible to draw up a business plan which will enable to make the project concrete and to launch the business on the market.

Abstract

EASI S.A. is one of the few leading information technology companies that shape the environment of the Belgian market. Given their success on the national sales territory, the software company is looking to expand their actives to international markets. Their mobiles sales application ‘SmartSales’ enables this vision for the first time since the inception of the company because the product responds to global needs. Initial, intuitive decisions about the internationalization of their product have been realized and a first wave of partnership agreements have been signed on an opportunistic basis. Furthermore, EASI S.A. is interested to compete on the German market because of the perceived potential of the economic force. The goal of this report is therefore to structure the initial effort and to propose an internationalization strategy for the commercialization of SmartSales on the German territory.
