Abstract

Jongeren 'leren' vandaag razendsnel langs allerlei kanalen: radio, tv, tijdschriften, weekbladen, internet, games, gsm, iPod. Ook in hun gezin en vooral in interactie met leeftijdsgenoten krijgen zij veel hapklare informatie aangeboden. Jongeren leven in een multimediale maatschappij en leren daar bijna spontaan mee om te gaan. Maar ze doen dat op een heel andere manier dan 'hun ouders en leerkrachten', op een manier 'die meer gemeen heeft met Einstein (creatief, multidisciplinair) dan met Newton (rationeel, logisch, lineair)'. En dan is er nog de school, de plek bij uitstek bedoeld voor informatie verwerven en verwerken. Omdat de leerkracht daar een centrale rol speelt in het leren van de jongeren, ligt de bal in zijn kamp. Hoe kan die leerkracht, die nog net probeert zijn bord en krijt te upgraden tot een smartboard, de concurrentie met al die andere, vaak hypersnelle, levensechte en aantrekkelijke informatiekanonnen nog wel aangaan? Wat hebben leerkrachten nodig aan inzichten om voor deze generatie jongeren - de Generatie Einstein - goed onderwijs te maken? Wat betekent die typering voor hun rol als leerkracht en de manier waarop zij hun lesactiviteiten inrichten?De auteurs analyseren de kenmerken van de Generatie Einstein op een positief-kritische manier en ze geven dan aan wat dit voor de leerkrachten en voor hun lesactiviteiten kan betekenen
