This book is the first monograph to analyse how European Union (EU) practices in initiating, conducting, and terminating diplomatic and consular relations have affected international diplomatic and consular law. Over the past six decades, the EU has been granted unique powers that enable it to act prominently on the international plane. It has thereto developed a worldwide bilateral and multilateral diplomatic network. Much like states, the EU sends ambassadors to all corners of the world and accredits permanent missions at its Brussels headquarters. These developments take place against the background of international diplomatic and consular law which are based quintessentially on the principles of state sovereignty, non-interference, and reciprocity. The book offers a detailed overview of the scope of EU diplomatic and consular powers (especially in relationship to its member states), its application of the Vienna Conventions and customary international law, the consular protection of EU citizens, questions of protocol and precedence, and the legal status of the EU's diplomatic staff and premises abroad. Finally, it identifies and conceptualises the specific contribution the EU makes to the shaping of diplomatic and consular law.

The European Union is facing the worst existential crisis in its history. At the same time, it is confronted with old and new challenges in its environment that call for joint action. But how do matters stand with the EU's capacity to act? Does the EU manage to effectively combine the different components of its external relations - such as trade, development aid, and security policy - better than it did in the past? How is the EU's external action determined by the internal socio-economic and political crises in its member states? These questions and more are answered in Global Europe in the context of the current impasse in the integration process. A clear analysis of the history of the EU's external relations up to now provides us with a better insight into the feasibility of EU strategies directed at the outside world.

In an increasingly connected world, Strategic Relationship Management is a vital capability for successful organizations. The book Managing Authentic Relationships; Facing New Challenges in a Changing Context focuses on building and managing a strong network and reciprocal relationships for the entire organization by implementing a professional relationship management approach at strategic, tactical and operational level. Professional relationship management makes valuable and measurable contributions to the strategic goals of an organization by: Expanding the organization's strategy to a Relationship Management Strategy; Efficiently managing relationships and correctly mapping stakeholders; Embedding clear responsibility for relationship management throughout the organization; Measuring results and calculating the Return-on-Relationship; Developing strong networking skills and networkers who are able to act as eyes and ears for the organization; Organizing effective networking activities with measurable results. This book also offers a holistic view. Managing authentic relationships requires a shared understanding of what relationships are.
