Following a decrease in the number of observed roe deer in the Sonian forest, a study was set up in 2015 to determine the evolution of detectability within this forest. The objective of this work is to determine if the roe deer population in the Sonian forest has currently decreased. To reach this objective, the Abundance Kilometric Index has been analyzed since its implementation in 2008 to determine a possible change in the population size. The year 2018 is the second year in which the impact of forest visibility and lower layer vegetation on detectability is studied. These two studies constituting two points of reference in time allowed the analysis of the evolution of the detectability. An estimate of the population size was also projected through the application of an absolute counting method, Distance sampling. The results obtained are consistent: despite vegetation development, the detectability has not changed, a decrease in the population level verified by the Abundance Kilometric Index and a decrease in the population size of 40% between 2009 and 2018, estimated at 106 roe deer in 2018. That proves that the roe deer population in the Sonian forest has declined these last years.

Changes in sea surface roughness are usually associated with a change in the sea surface wind field. This interaction has been exploited to measure sea surface wind speed by scatterometry. A number of features on the sea surface associated with changes in roughness can be observed by synthetic aperture radar (SAR) because of the change in Bragg backscatter of the radar signal by damping of the resonant ocean capillary waves. With various radar frequencies, resolutions, and modes of polarization, sea surface features have been analyzed in numerous campaigns, bringing various datasets together, thus allowing for new insights into small-scale processes at a larger areal coverage. This Special Issue aims at investigating sea surface features detected by high spatial resolution radar systems, such as SAR.

Image analysis is a fundamental task for any application where extracting information from images is required. The analysis requires highly sophisticated numerical and analytical methods, particularly for those applications in medicine, security, and other fields where the results of the processing consist of data of vital importance. This fact is evident from all the articles composing the Special Issue "Entropy in Image Analysis II", in which the authors used widely tested methods to verify their results. In the process of reading the present volume, the reader will appreciate the richness of their methods and applications, in particular for medical imaging and image security, and a remarkable cross-fertilization among the proposed research areas.
