This book provides detailed information on the methods and techniques that can be used to process coir, cocopeat and other coconut byproducts for developing various bioproducts. Coir is a unique raw material in that it is abundant, green, and sustainable. The most common industrial application of coir is to use it as a reinforcement of composites with other natural or synthetic fibers and resins. Coir-based composites are used in automotive, construction, and packaging, among other applications. Recently cocopeat, coconut shells and other byproducts have been used for energy, environmental remediation and agricultural applications. « Les crimes contre l'humanité transcendent l'individu puisqu'en attaquant l'homme, est visée, est niée, l'Humanité. C'est l'identité de la victime, l'Humanité, qui marque la spécificité du crime contre l'humanité », affirmaient en 1997 les juges du Tribunal international pour l'ex-Yougoslavie à l'appui de leur premier jugement. L'expression même de crime contre « l'humanité » distingue ce crime de tous les autres et souligne son extrême gravité. Mais, si grave soit-il, un crime ne constitue un crime contre l'humanité qu'a condition de comporter des éléments constitutifs précis et de s'inscrire dans une attaque généralisée ou systématique. Cet ouvrage propose d'éclairer cette dénomination pénale née à Nuremberg en analysant sa formation en droit inter-national, puis les variations de sa réception au niveau national. Il en explore ainsi la richesse mais pointe aussi ses ambiguïtés au travers des applications passées et présentes, esquissant déjà les transformations à venir.

This work covers all aspects related to the obtainment, production, design, and processing of biopolymers obtained from natural resources. Moreover, it studies characteristics related to the improvement of their performance to increase their potential application at an industrial level, in line with the concept of a global circular economy. Thus, this work firstly classifies biopolymers obtained from natural resources (e.g., biobased building blocks and biopolymers extracted directly from plants and biomass), and then summarizes several cutting-edge research works focused on enhancing the performance of biopolymers from natural resources to extend their application in the industrial sector, and contribute to the transition to more sustainable plastics.
