Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common cancer of the uterus and the only gynecologic malignancy that is increasing in incidence and mortality. Early-stage EC generally has a good prognosis but 5-year survival is poor for those with advanced-stage disease or recurrent disease. This resource provides the latest information on epidemiology, risk factors and diagnosis, including the implications of Lynch syndrome in younger women, and the latest thinking on classification, grading, staging and prognostic risk groups, made possible by major advances in the molecular characterization of EC. The therapeutic implications of these advances are still being discovered and here we outline the latest evidence-based therapies and management of the disease. Table of Contents: • Epidemiology and risk factors • Diagnosis • Grading, staging and prognosis • Molecular characterization • Treatment of early-stage disease • Management of advanced and recurrent disease • Research directions.

This book provides an insight into the emerging trends in pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of endometriosis. Key features of the book include overviews of endometriosis; endometrial angiogenesis, stem cells involvement, immunological and hormonal aspects related to the disease pathogenesis; recent research reports on infertility, endometrial receptivity, ovarian cancer and altered gene expression associated with endometriosis; various predictive markers, and imaging modalities including MRI and ultrasound for efficient diagnosis; as well as current non-hormonal and hormonal treatment strategies This book is expected to be a valuable resource for clinicians, scientists and students who would like to have an improved understanding of endometriosis and also appreciate recent research trends associated with this disease.

Endometriosis is one of the most common gynecological diseases, causing pelvic pain, infertility, and cancer. The condition reduces the quality of life for the estimated 10% of menstruating women who are affected by it. This book provides a clear insight into the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of endometriosis—essential information for clinicians intending to successfully treat the condition. The first part covers a range of topics including stem cells, NK cells, macrophages, inflammation, cytokines, epigenetics, prostaglandin, sex steroids, aromatase, apoptosis, nerve fibers, and malignant transformation to aid in understanding the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of the disease. The second part provides useful tools for therapy, specifically, notable recent techniques in prevention, imaging, biomarkers, medical treatments, surgical treatments, prevention of recurrence, and infertility treatments. Each chapter was written by an expert in the field, with nearly 40 researchers and clinicians contributing to the work. This book will be highly useful to clinicians as well as to research scientists who are interested in this enigmatic disease. .
