Abstract

"Values in Child Welfare Service discusses how child welfare services are influenced by social, cultural and personal values. The primary objective of this anthology is to contribute to debate on how frameworks, ideologies and moral understandings can and should have an impact on child welfare services' work on behalf of vulnerable children and youths. The book is divided into two main sections. The chapters in the first part look at system-based guidelines for practical and theoretical understandings of core concepts in professional child welfare practices. The chapters in the second part focus more directly on empirical examinations of how values and conflicts of values arise in practice-oriented child welfare education and actual child welfare work. The chapter authors focus on central values in child welfare from a variety of professional perspectives. In this way, the book emphasizes the importance of understanding child welfare work as a delimited, yet also multi-disciplinary value-based practice." "Verdier i barnevern diskuter hvordan barnevernarbeid er preget av samfunnsverdier, kulturelle verdier og personlige verdier. Hovedmålet med boka er å bidra til debatt om hvordan rammer, ideologier og moralske oppfatninger kan og bør prege barnevernets arbeid med utsatte barn og unge. Boka er delt inn i to hoveddeler. Kapitlene i den første delen ser på systembaserte føringer for praksis og teoretiske forståelser av kjernebegreper i barnevernfaglig praksis. Kapitlene i den andre delen fokuserer mer direkte på empiriske undersøkelser av hvordan verdier og verdimotsetninger kommer til syne i praksisrettet barnevernutdanning og utøvende barnevernarbeid. Forfatterne av kapitlene fokuserer på sentrale verdier i barnevern fra ulike faglige ståsteder. På denne måten betoner boka viktigheten av å forstå barnevernarbeid som en avgrenset, men samtidig flerfaglig verdibasert praksis."

Le travail demeure une source de plaisir pour certains. Mais, pour trop d'entre nous, il est devenu difficile à supporter. Pour la plupart des travailleurs, il est en tout cas un souci dont aucune condition sociale, aucune position hiérarchique, aucun statut ne mettent complètement à l'abri. Et cela, particulièrement en France. Faut-il alors transformer les travailleurs ? Peut-on concevoir des organisations salubres ? Peut-on aller vers une performance compatible avec la qualité du travail ? Vers des produits et des façons de produire moins toxiques pour la santé publique ? La santé au travail peut-elle être octroyée ou les travailleurs doivent-ils avoir les moyens de la construire ? Yves Clot, psychologue du travail, et Michel Gollac, sociologue, confrontent leurs conceptions et celles de leurs disciplines. Leur débat débouche sur une conviction : non seulement le travail peut devenir supportable mais il peut être l'une des sources d'une vitalité retrouvée, d'autres façons d'être soi-même et de vivre ensemble. Une nouvelle liberté est possible si l'entreprise s'ouvre à la démocratie.

Abstract

Organizational culture defines how employees should behave in a given set of circumstances. The purpose of this study involved analyzing the organizational culture of an Icelandic software consultancy company in relation to employees´ work-life balance as an aspect of health, and explaining the process for creating and sustaining a supportive work-life culture. Achieving this purpose required answers to several research questions, What are the components of the existing organizational culture? What is the managers´ role in creating and sustaining this organizational culture? What are the challenges in sustaining this organizational culture? This case study used both quantitative and qualitative methods, and four data sources for triangulation purposes. The methodological approaches included a questionnaire-based survey, completed by 72 employees (90%); semi-structured interviews with eight employees; observations conducted during two separate weeks; and document analysis of various documents dating back a maximum of two years. The results suggest that the case organization´s culture was work-life supportive, i.e., the organization supported and valued employees´ integration of work and private life. The components of the existing organizational culture were defined as: fun, ambition, flexibility, international character, openness, cooperation, informality, flat organizational structure, responsibility, trust, understanding, support, and pride. The managers´ role in creating and sustaining this culture involved availability, supportiveness, understanding, trusting, and giving feedback. Among the main challenges in sustaining the culture was the growth of the organization, which could affect considerably the informal culture. Description of the components of the case organization's existing culture includes description of the culture's enablers, according to the purpose of explaining how a supportive work-life culture can be created and sustained.

Des livres sur le changement, il y en a beaucoup, ils envahissent le marché. C'est bien normal, puisque la totalité des entreprises et ce quel que soit leur secteur d'activité, sont confrontées à la nécéssité de se transformer. Ces transformations sont structurées par des projets toujours accompagnés d'un volet " conduite du changement". Pourtant, malgré cette littérature abondante qui devrait supporter ces transformations, la réussite est loin d'être au rendez- vous. Une étude produite en septembre 2012 sur plus de 4500 entreprises réparties dans le Monde, montre que 3 fois sur 5 ces processus de transformation échouent. Sous la plume vive et talentueuse des auteurs, les enseignements de transformations réussies sont mis ici à disposition des lecteurs. Citons en vrac le rachat de Docks de France par Auchan, la création du groupe Novartis, l'expertise de la qualité au travail chez Sodhexo, la transformation de Manpower Europe, le redressement d'Alsthom. D'un abord facile et ludique, ce livre est illustré d'anecdotes dont l'objectif est de faciliter le processus de mémorisation et donc de mise en oeuvre. Il intéressera toutes les entreprises qui veulent et doivent changer, car finalement on peut penser qu'il y a deux types d'enteprises, celles qui changent et celles qui ferment.
