Le propos du présent volume n'est pas, suivant le mot du chanteur, de nous faire «voir du pays natal jusqu'à en loucher», mais d'amorcer une réflexion critique sur les éventuels enracinements locaux d'un imaginaire wallon en construction. Chaque individu dans ses souvenirs personnels n'entretient-il pas la mémoire de sa propre prise de la Bastille, cette victoire amplifiée par le mythe, épisode fondateur structurant sa personnalité ou, du moins, l'image de lui-même qu'il entend façonner ou exhiber?
