Sustainability represents a key factor in the construction and real estate sector by optimizing economical, ecological and social aspects of buildings. Transportation systems in buildings, as part of the technical building equipment, are not yet fully integrated into this concept. This work analyses the current approach of lift planning and design and develops supportive tools for neglected sections.

Air Transport: A Tourism Perspective provides rigorous insights into the current complexities, synergies and conflicts within air transportation and tourism, presenting a balanced, comprehensive, contemporary, and global analysis that thoroughly examines the links between theory and practice. The book offers readers a multi-sector, global perspective on the practical implications of the link between air transport and tourism. By using a novel approach, it systematically explores the successive stages of a tourist's trip—investigating reasons for flying, the airport experience, airline industry structures, competition and regulation, and air transportation and destination interrelationships. In addition, the book explores current and salient debates on such issues as the influence of traveling to visit friends and family, the role of charters versus low cost carriers, public subsidies to support airport development, and much more. Presents insights from an international team of expert contributors with proven research and publication experience in their specialty area Includes cutting-edge analyses based on original research that identifies emerging research directions and policy and managerial implications Utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to fully explore theoretical and policy concepts and their effect on air transportation and tourism development Provides case studies from around the globe in each chapter

Air transport must evolve if it is to optimize its value in the 21st century. The mood in the aerospace industry is positive with regard to economic recovery, but the focus in this transitional time must be on sustaining value, without losing sight of environmental and safety priorities. This book presents the proceedings of the joint conference held in Delft, the Netherlands in June 2012, incorporating the 3rd International Air Transport Operations Symposium (ATOS), the 3rd Association of Scientific Development in Air Traffic Management in Europe (ASDA) Seminar, the 6th International Meeting for Aviation Products Support Processes (IMAPP) and the 2012 Complex World Seminar. The conference brought together over 200 participants from industry and academia, all of whom share the common goal of improving performance and capacity by advancing the efficiency, sustainability and safety of air transport. Presentations at the conference were divided equally between academic papers and more applied industry sessions. The book includes the majority of academic papers presented at the conference, and provides a wide overview of the issues currently of importance in the world of air transport.

Until recently, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) had applied relatively uniform methods to screen airline passengers, focusing primarily on advances in screening technology to improve security and efficiency. TSA has recently shifted away from this approach, which assumes a uniform level of risk among all airline travelers, to one that focuses more intently on passengers thought to pose elevated security risks. Risk-based passenger screening includes a number of initiatives that fit within a broader framework addressing security risks, but specifically emphasizes the detection
