Bringing together a group of both international and Malaysian scholars, Minorities Matter: Malaysian Politics and People Volume III, is the third instalment in the 'Malaysian Politics and People' series, a series which has tracked Malaysian politics and society from the outcome of GE12 to the present day. Published in the aftermath of the fall of the BN government, Minorities Matter looks at the contemporary situation of Malaysian politics and society with a particular focus on those who are often left out of the national narrative, minorities, to understand the ways in which minority groups, from women to East Malaysians, the Orang Asli, refugees and more, have contributed towards, and been affected by, political change in Malaysia. With a particular focus on the problem of political culture, Minorities Matter highlights both the political and social changes, as well as continuities, witnessed since the 14th General Election highlighting, through the lens of minority groups, the contemporary contestations which now dominate Malaysian politics.

Dans le débat politique qui entoure l'adaptation des institutions belges à l'évolution de la société, la notion de "confédéralisme" est largement mobilisée et agitée comme une menace, un cauchemar, devenant progressivement une sorte de spectre institutionnel. Dépassant les préventions de toutes sortes, l'historien Philippe Destatte entreprend d'analyser les notions de fédéralisme et de confédéralisme en relevant leur présence constante dans le passé récent de la Belgique. Remontant à la fin du XVIIIème siècle pour revenir en 2020, il invite le lecteur à mieux appréhender l'histoire de cette période, à l'épreuve de ces concepts et de leur évolution. La difficulté inhérente à l'usage de ces notions tient à l'absence de consensus sur UNE définition qui permettrait de les saisir. Sans doute est-ce là une richesse pour le débat démocratique. Dans cette perspective l'historien redevient un citoyen tourné vers l'avenir. Avec Jacques Brassinne, Philippe Destatte suggère la création d'une Belgique composée de quatre entités égales entre elles : Bruxelles, la Flandre, l'OstBelgien et la Wallonie. Une série de textes, écrits ces dernières années, alimentent la réflexion pour que chacun aborde sereinement et en connaissance de cause les nouvelles négociations qui arrivent...
