En 2017, Théo Calmejane auteur de BD entame une résidence proposée par l'hôpital d'Angers dans un domaine peu connu et essentiel : la simulation médicale. Le voilà embarqué comme reporter auprès des internes pour observer les différentes techniques d'apprentissage de la médecine : du jeu de rôles au plus high-tech des simulateurs de chirurgie, la PlayStation des futurs médecins. Alors qu'il pensait être témoin d'une partie de Docteur Maboul, c'est un monde inconnu que Théo découvre, bien plus humain et complexe qu'une simple succession de gestes techniques : le stress des interventions, la relation parfois compliquée avec les patients, l'inquiétude du milieu médical face au devenir du système de santé... L'auteur en immersion confronte et questionne ces métiers vitaux à son propre travail : la BD n'est-elle pas dérisoire face à ces gens qui sauvent des vie ?
