Abstract

It is clear that during the last few years, there has been an increase in the email complexity. However, an element that remained constant is the effectiveness of Email Marketing as a Digital channel. Indeed, it is still one of the best in terms of ROI but if marketers want to succeed in today’s Email Marketing, they need to produce well designed and extremely personalised emails, almost like a one-to-one communication with each of their subscribers. One of the tools that can help them in achieving such effectiveness is an Email Service Provider. Unfortunately, it is not an easy task to find one that perfectly match their needs due to the number of platforms available on the market. To conduct this project, I first started by selecting the platforms and then defined specific criteria on which I would compare them. In this evaluation process, five main criteria (“Platform”, “Features”, “Integration”, “Support” and “Pricing”) and multiple sub criteria were considered. A decision matrix was later used to evaluate and rank the six platforms. The data needed to fill the matrix were gathered by two surveys. The first survey was sent to Email Marketing experts to collect the weights of importance of each criterion. A total of 34 experts answered the survey and provided me with weights that I considered as industry “default”. The second survey was sent to users to obtain the ratings of the selected platforms and 44 of them answered the survey. I believe the use of multiple experts and users helped me get different viewpoints and experiences and therefore, reduced my single- person opinion. The combination of the two inputs resulted in a weighted score attributed to each ESP. This long process helped me find the strengths and weaknesses of the different platforms and gave me essential information about which one could fit what type of clients.

Abstract

The service process design landscape is changing, with many of the previous limitations disappearing on how and by whom services are delivered. Opportunities for new service design configurations are being supported, to a large extent, by technology- enabled innovations; many tasks previously performed by the service provider may now be performed by either the customer or the service provider. As a result, customers are playing a more active role in the service process, not only through self-service but also by providing information to the service provider to create a more personalized service experience. Designing service processes to unlock value explores how service processes can be designed to leverage the expanding range of opportunities for service providers and customers to co-create value. Readers will learn about frameworks for value co- creation and models for designing all types of service processes, as well as the unique challenges of designing knowledge-intensive services. And with the growing number of alternatives for designing service processes and determining who performs the various service tasks, service performance outcomes are increasingly dependent on the knowledge, skills, and abilities--that is, capabilities--of both service providers and customers. Thus, the book concludes with approaches to unlock these capabilities–and further boost value co-creation.

As a result, customers are playing a more active role in the service process, not only through self-service but also by providing information to the service provider to create a more personalized service experience. Designing Service Processes to Unlock Value explores how service processes can be designed to leverage the expanding range of opportunities for service providers and customers to co-create value. Thus, the book concludes with approaches to unlock these capabilities-and further boost value co-creation. The 2nd edition of Designing Service Processes to Unlock Value includes new and updated examples of technology-enabled innovations that provide unprecedented flexibility in service process design and continue to transform how service providers and customers co-produce services. At the same time, readers will see how these innovations can have important--and sometimes surprising--impacts on the nature of the benefit and cost trade-offs and synergies that determine value co-creation.

Abstract

This thesis deals with a case study of an application of a cross-selling strategy within the framework of a company in the eCommerce sector. This company, Priority Fulfillment Services (PFS), offers end-to-end eCommerce solution, meaning that any company that wants to develop an eCommerce business has the possibility to outsource to PFS one, several or all of the activities required for an online business. For a number of years, we have seen that the sales sector attaches a great importance in cross-selling techniques. Cross-selling is the action of proposing an additional product to the existing customers of the company. Indeed, these techniques have the main advantage of improving the income of a company by increasing the average number of services or products bought by the same consumer. Companies therefore want to develop their relationships with their customer in order to enhance their customer’s value. Today, these techniques are used in many areas such as telecommunication, banking and insurance, healthcare and eCommerce sector. Although many studies have paid attention to cross-selling, few researches focus on the eCommerce sector and on the context of the PFS Company. The aim of this thesis is to compare the cross-selling good practices that have been presented and developed in the literature with regard to the financial services sector, with what is currently applied in the PFS Company regarding its cross-selling strategy. Based on these discussions, a number of recommendations will be made to the company. Then, the second objective of this thesis is to present the project that was setting up upon the integrated internship and which aims at improving the cross-selling process of the company regarding its Project Change Requests (PCRs). PCRs are additional services to the initial state of work. Indeed, the tools developed during this internship have been built to enhance the communication and the sharing of information about PCRs to all the people who are involved in cross-selling activities.

Abstract

Over the past years, the emergence of a “new” economy has disrupted the codes of current consumption models, threatening traditional businesses’ approaches. This economy also known as collaborative economy, allows consumers to access a series of goods and services provided by other individuals in exchange for a fee. This process is done through an online 'matching' platform anticipated by the collaborative firm. Companies such as Uber, Deliveroo, Blablacar or Airbnb to are examples of business models amidst others that are trying to gain competitive advantage in this booming market. This emergence is explained by the development of new technologies (e.g., web 2.0, ICTs, mobile technology, etc.) and by the influence of new economic (e.g., burdens of ownership, economic uncertainty, entrepreneurial motivations, etc.), social/cultural (e.g., collective interest, reaction to hyper-consumption, etc.) and ecological (e.g., waste problems, pollution concerns, etc.) issues that have affected our current society and its mind set. Consumers of collaborative consumption are motivated primarily by economic, moral and social interests, and because this mode of consumption gives them some flexibility.Nevertheless, the chances of success of companies that take part in this economy is relatively minimal as many start-ups have failed. One of the major causes is the difficulty of companies to attract and retain their two key customers; consumers and individual suppliers. In order to respond to this obstacle, this study investigated the customers’ reasons for rejecting this innovation. Based on the theory of resistance to innovation (Hazée et al., 2017, Talke and Heidenreich, 2014), we analysed the online comments of both actors towards some collaborative firms via the critical incidents technique (CIT). The result is a double schema describing the barriers perceived on the one hand, by service providers, and on the other hand, by consumers. The barriers identified are then explained and discussed as they could potentially help managers to increase acceptance of their innovation and to overcome people’s perceived barriers towards collaborative consumption. Equally, this schema helps them figure what negative and positive balances effects a new measure would bring to the barriers of both players.

Abstract

Remittances are a sizeable source of external financing for developing countries. In the L'Aquila 2009 G8 Summit, leaders pledged to reduce the cost of remittances by half in 5 years (from 10 to 5 percent). Yet, empirically, little is known about what drives the cost of remittances. Using newly gathered data across 119 country corridors, this paper explores the factors that determine the cost of remittances. Considering average costs across all types of institutions, the authors find that corridors with larger numbers of migrants and more competition among remittances service providers exhibit lower costs. By contrast, remittance costs are higher in richer corridors and in corridors with greater bank participation in the remittances market. Comparing results across all banks and all money transfer operators separately, the analysis finds few significant differences. However, estimations for Western Union, a leading player in the remittances business, suggest that this firm's prices are insensitive to competition.

Abstract

The Life Insurance Sector in Luxembourg is more complex than elsewhere in Europe. With different product offerings amongst countries, Luxembourg has grown to be a leading choice in terms of estate planning. Despite this, the regulations have become increasingly constraining pushing companies to find solutions to reduce their costs. As in every case of cost rationalisation, the option of outsourcing solutions has emerged. For KPMG identifying the new tendencies of the industry and understanding how significant the impact of these will be on the market are two important aspects. This will enable them to gain insight on future developments and to anticipate the needs of their clients. This study provides KPMG with an overview of both the supply and demand context. It also raises awareness on key points such as the valuation of unquoted assets, lack of automation, gap between supply and demand and other relevant financial aspects.Through the project, it has become clear that BPO offers are available, but do not create enough added value for them to become a clear choice for Life Insurance companies. These businesses will actually continue to face the same problems and service providers will not be able to help them solve this. There is therefore a need for the offer to mature and evolve.Based on this study, the next step for KPMG is clear. There is no possibility of developing a service offering, but there is instead a strong opportunity from an advisory standpoint. In fact, KPMG has a key role as an external actor to provide the right advice to the right entity. They must create and reflect upon new ways for companies to perform in the sector, in order to reduce manual processing and activities that slow down the asset management processes.

Abstract

The growing interdependence of the local and the global demand innovative approaches to human development. Such approaches, the author argues, ought to be based on the emerging ethics of global intelligence, defined as the ability to understand, respond to, and work toward what will benefit all human beings and will support and enrich all life on this planet. As no national or supranational authority can predefine or predetermine it, global intelligence involves long-term, collective learning processes and can emerge only from continuing intercultural research, dialogue, and cooperation. In this book, the author elaborates the basic principles of a new field of intercultural studies, oriented toward global intelligence. He proposes concrete research and educational programs that would help create intercultural learning environments designed to stimulate sustainable human development throughout the world.

Abstract

This book investigates the convergence between locative, mobile and social media in order to show how people use mobile media for their creative practice—creative writing, photography, video and filmmaking. The central thematic focus of this book explores how mobile media has created new opportunities and contexts for creative practitioners. It draws together creative practice research with non-representational theory and digital ethnography to provide a fresh perspective on the place mobile media has in our everyday creative lives. Fictionalized and semi-fictional vignettes are used to present empirical material taken from fieldnotes and interviews to demonstrate how new forms and genres of art making have arisen because of the affordances of mobile media. The chapters in this volume have been arranged into a sequence according to the kinds of actions that make up various creative practices.
