Mortensen collected and studied some West Indian chidarids during a stay in the Danish West Indies in the winter of 1905-06, as well as being allowed access to varous museum materials. From this accumulation of material, Mortensen revised the list of North American Atlantic and West Indian Echinoids, which he hoped would prove useful.
