Slavoj Zizek se propose d'analyser les investissements pulsionnels et idéologiques qui ont façonné notre nouvel ordre mondial depuis l'effondrement des tours du World Trade Center, le 11 septembre 2001 à New York. La tâche critique consiste aujourd'hui à replacer l'«événement» dans le contexte des antagonismes du capitalisme mondial.
