Mit dem Buch Politik als System soll sowohl der etwas in Vergessenheit geratene Beitrag der politischen Systemtheorien zur Erklärung von Politik als auch das integrative Potential der politischen Systemtheorien ins Bewusstsein gerückt werden. Es werden die zentralen Voraussetzungen des systemtheoretischen Denkens untersucht und die Variablen beschrieben, die für die Erklärung von Politik aus systemtheoretischer Perspektive von Bedeutung sind.
