Le guide "Assemblages des pieds de poteaux en acier" est destiné à permettre la conception et le calcul des assemblages de pieds de poteaux des bâtiments courants en acier selon la version EN des Eurocodes. A cette fin, il présente les méthodes de vérification nécessaires, des exemples d'application de ces méthodes et donne des tableaux de dimensionnement des deux types d'assemblages de pieds de poteaux les plus utilisés dans les bâtiments courants de la construction métallique : les assemblages de pieds de poteaux par platine d'extremité « articulés » et « encastrés ». Avec la collection « Guide Eurocode », le CSTB offre aux professionnels du bâtiment des outils pratiques relatifs aux méthodes de conception et de calcul figurant dans les normes Eurocodes. Elle présente de manière synthétique de nombreux points de conception-calcul pouvant présenter des difficultés d'application pratique, du fait de leur nouveauté ou de leur relative complexité. Les auteurs présentent de manière pédagogique et concise le déroulement des phases de calcul traitées, en citant systématiquement le ou les articles concernés de l'Eurocode. Cette méthode a pour but essentiel d'éclairer le projeteur sur l'objectif et les choix essentiels en phase calcul, en délestant l'approche de tout ce qui pourrait présenter des difficultés d'interprétation. Le parti pris est de permettre, outre le recours éventuel à des logiciels ou des feuilles de calcul Excel© (téléchargement gratuit via le portail batipédia), la possibilité d'un calcul manuel utilisant des tableaux ou abaques.
