This Special Issue of Coatings is focused on the study of different photocatalyst-based coatings for developing self-cleaning, air-purifying and antibacterial properties. In this case, a wide variety of photocatalysts (TiO2, Si-TiO2, TiO2-xNy, Ag-TiO2, Mo-TiO2, ZnO, SnO2-Ag, Nb2O5 and C60 fullerene) were evaluated towards the removal of different molecules. Similarly, substrates such as glass, silica, sapphire, polycarbonate, aluminium, stainless steel, concrete and mortar were included in this issue. This information certainly contributes to a better understanding of the photocatalytic removal of different molecules (e.g., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, resazuring, rhodamine B, methylene blue, Demeton-S, 2-chloroethyl phenyl sulfide (CEPS) and NOx (NO and NO2)) and the coating technologies required for such performances. Based on these interesting results, I encourage you to read through this Special Issue and use the valuable information provided therein to help us move forward in the exciting area of photocatalytic coatings for developing air-purifying, self-cleaning, and antimicrobial properties.

This book "Concepts of Semiconductor Photocatalysis" contains recent research on the preparation, characterization, and potential applications of the semiconductor photocatalyst. This research is promising and has received a lot of interest in the last few decades. The book covers advanced topics on the optical, physical, structural, and electro-catalysis and photo-catalysis applications. Development of new and noble efficient technology is pointing researchers toward the safe, facile, non-toxic, eco-friendly route of synthesis-to-applications, which can be used for manufacture at a large scale. This book presents an overview of the current photocatalyst fundamental theory, substantial applications, and use of the research worldwide. It is an important book for research organizations, government research-centers, academic libraries, and R&D affianced in recent research and development of doped or undoped low dimensional semiconductor photocatalysts.

Annotation The field of heterogeneous photocatalysis has given rise to thousands of papers, typically dispersed across many journals. Consequently, from time to time, there is a need for a book providing information concerning the different facets of this field in a handy way. Actually, the present book includes both retrospective analyses and suitable examples of diverse aspects of the current research. It thus covers several basic aspects (photon absorption, active species/mechanisms/reaction pathways, efficiency evaluation), information on UV and visible-light sensitive photocatalysts and the relationship between their characteristics and the photocatalytic efficiency, critical reviews and articles on the potential of photocatalysis (and photoelectrochemistry) for decontamination (of air, water and surfaces) and for the production of energy and chemicals. The contributions have been written by well-known authors forming an ensemble whose excellence has rarely been matched in previous books on this topic.
