Michael Emmendorffer examines the Priestly Source and shows how, under changed political, social, and religious conditions after the catastrophe of 587 BC, it re-justifies the presence and proximity of God and embeds it into hermeneutic key texts (Creation, Flood, Abraham and Exodus). He traces in detail the rereading of older origin myths and their transformation processes, taking into account analog concepts of God in the cultures of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, which considerably widens the study's scope on the history of religion and theology. Reflections on the Book of Ezekiel and Isaiah 40-55* in their contemporary conceptions are also included. --
