Au cours des dernières décennies, la gestion durable des forêts dans le monde est devenue un élément central dans notre manière de mobiliser la ressource ligneuse. En parallèle, l’utilisation du matériau bois et de ses dérivés connaît un réel essor dans le cadre de la transition écologique. Ces dernières années, marquées par la crise sanitaire, les massifs forestiers wallons se sont vus d’autant plus fréquentés par un public en quête d’un retour à la nature. Ainsi, la desserte forestière joue un rôle prépondérant dans le cadre d’une gestion multifonctionnelle de nos forêts. Actuellement, peu d’études en Belgique s’intéressent à cet élément du paysage, parfois oublié, mais essentiel. Cette étude s’intéresse donc à la desserte forestière à l’échelle de la commune de Nassogne dans l’optique d’une analyse spatiale approfondie et pour la mise en place d’un outil d’aide à la navigation pour les grands convois forestiers de type grumier. L’analyse cartographique de la desserte et du paysage forestier de la commune s’est faite à l’aide, d’une part, des données disponibles sur la plateforme OpenStreetMap (OSM) et, d’autre part, à partir des données obtenues par la technologie LiDAR. Avant d’entamer la seconde partie du travail, et dans le but d’évaluer la précision des données OSM, des vérifications ont été faites au niveau de la précision géométrique, mais également au niveau de l’exhaustivité et de la précision de la classification des voiries. Les résultats, en accord avec d’autres études, ont montré une bonne précision des données OSM. Ceci met en avant l’intérêt de l’utilisation de ces données dans l’élaboration d’un outil de guidage dédié au transport du bois en Wallonie. Ce dernier aspect a été mis en avant au sein de cette étude. En effet, l’intérêt de cette base de données est qu’elle reprend tant le réseau routier public que le réseau de voiries forestières, souvent incomplet ou absent des outils de navigation classiques. Pour ce faire, un outil d’aide à la navigation, basé sur les données OSM et destiné aux grumiers, a été mis en place à l’aide de l’extension pgRouting. Plus précisément, l’algorithme de Dijkstra permet de créer des itinéraires probants. Enfin, de nombreuses études mettent en avant l’intérêt et les résultats obtenus à partir des nouvelles technologies pour développer davantage le réseau OSM. Celui-ci pourrait dès lors s’affirmer comme une source de données complète et fiable, sur un large territoire, dans la création d’un outil d’aide à la navigation.

The digital era has brought about huge transformations in the map itself, which to date have been largely conceptualised in spatial terms. Novel objects, forms, processes and approaches have emerged and pose new, pressing questions about the temporality of digital maps and contemporary mapping practices: in spite of its implicit spatiality, digital mapping is strongly grounded in time. This collection brings time back into the map, taking up Doreen Massey's critical concern for 'ongoing stories' in the world; it asks how mapping enrols time into these narratives. Maps often seek to ‘freeze’ and ‘fix’ the world, looking to represent, document or capture dynamic phenomena. This collection examines how these processes are impacted by digital cartographic technologies that, arguably, have disrupted our understanding of time as much as they have provided coherence. The book consists of twelve chapters from experts in the field. Each addresses a different type of digital mapping practice and analyses it in relation to temporality. Cases discussed range from locative art projects, OpenStreetMap mapping parties, sensory mapping, Google Street View, to visual mapping, smart city dashboards and crisis mapping. Authors from different disciplinary positions consider how a temporal lens might focus attention on different aspects of digital mapping. This kaleidoscopic approach demonstrates a rich plethora of ways for understanding the temporal modes of digital mapping and the interdisciplinary background of the authors allows multiple positions to be developed and contrasted.

«La mise en ligne de données spatiales, le webmapping, connaît un essor fulgurant, parallèlement au développement d'internet et d'applications faisant usage de données géolocalisées. Cet ouvrage aborde de façon concrète les logiciels open source les plus utilisés pour stocker, gérer, exploiter et cartographier ce type de données sur le web : PosGIS, OpenLayers et MapServer. The book features contributions that report original research in the theoretical, technological, and social aspects of geoinformation methods, as applied to supporting citizen science. Specifically, the book focuses on the technological aspects of the field and their application toward the recruitment of volunteers and the collection, management, and analysis of geotagged information to support volunteer involvement in scientific projects. Internationally renowned research groups share research in three areas: First, the key methods of geoinformatics within citizen science initiatives to support scientists in discovering new knowledge in specific application domains or in performing relevant activities, such as reliable geodata filtering, management, analysis, synthesis, sharing, and visualization; second, the critical aspects of citizen science initiatives that call for emerging or novel approaches of geoinformatics to acquire and handle geoinformation; and third, novel geoinformatics research that could serve in support of citizen science.

Geo-information technology has been playing an ever more important role in environmental monitoring, land resource quantification and mapping, geo-disaster damage and risk assessment, urban planning and smart city development.
