Addressing disease of the frontal sinus successfully remains, perhaps, one of the most technically challenging issues encountered by otolaryngologists. The intricate anatomy, combined with a narrow aperture and relatively acute angle of approach, leads to complexity not encountered elsewhere in surgery of the sinuses. This comprehensive volume with contributions by over 30 of the world's leading rhinologists will help to shed light on this difficult topic. Thorough discussions of anatomy and pathophysiology of a variety of frontal sinus diseases provide a background for in-depth chapters on aspects of both medical and surgical management. A variety of surgical approaches are discussed, including the latest endoscopic techniques, as well as more traditional open and microscopic approaches. Heavily illustrated, this volume will be a "must have" for the rhinologist managing disease in the frontal sinus.

This book emphasizes on five different sections of rhinology, namely, 'Surgical Anatomy', 'Dental-Related Diseases', 'Radiological Imaging', 'Nasal Spaces' and 'Surgical Training'. It incorporates new clinical and research developments as well as future perspectives in the ever-expanding field of rhinology. I dedicate this book to those of you who pick up the torch and by continued research, close clinical observation and the high quality of clinical care as well as publication and selfless teaching, further advance knowledge in rhinology from this point forward. This is intended to be a guide for other books to follow. General otolaryngologist, rhinologist, researchers, specialists, trainees and general practitioners with interest in otolaryngology will find this book useful and interesting.

Recent developments in our understanding of the complex anatomy of the cranial base and the biological behaviour of tumours in this area have significantly improved the outcome of patients with skull base tumours. The contributors present a systemic introduction and summary of contemporary knowledge in skull base surgery. The book has three major parts: (i) clinical, pathological and radiological management of patients, (ii) open and endoscopic surgical approaches to the skull base, and (iii) outcome, morbidity and postoperative follow-up of patients. The book is meant for medical students, residents and consultants in various disciplines, including otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery and oncology. The emphasis is on the clinical approach to the patient rather than on surgical techniques per se. .

Placement of endosseous implants in the posterior maxilla is often difficult because of a lack of supporting bone. Sinus augmentation procedures have therefore been extensively used for the treatment of the edentulous atrophic posterior maxilla prior to implant placement. This book describes in detail the most widely used sinus grafting techniques as well as some innovative variations, with full coverage of both lateral and crestal approaches. A key aim is to assist the practitioner in selecting the appropriate sinus grafting technique based on the evaluation of a number of parameters that are described in detail and codified in a simple and practical way. Up-to-date information is also provided on grafting materials and on potential complications of sinus augmentation procedures and their treatment.
