La prise en charge d'un patient atteint d'une pathologie vestibulaire doit tenir compte du polymorphisme des symptômes vestibulaires pour mieux définir ses objectifs. En effet, le patient ne percevra une amélioration que si sont pris en compte ses difficultés de la vie quotidienne et leur éventuel retentissement psychologique. La rééducation ne pourra donc se limiter à la stimulation répétée de réflexes à départ vestibulaire car une rééducation ne permet pas toujours la restitution de la fonction. Le patient l'acceptera d'autant plus facilement que le rééducateur l'aidera à comprendre l'origine de ses symptômes, dans le sens d'une atténuation ou pour les prévenir.
