This study focuses on the spoken language of Italian-speaking inhabitants of the Ruhr Area. It offers an objective and quantifiable presentation of the differences in the forms of speech in pronunciation and prosody. For the first time, it examines the language spoken by Italians in the Ruhr Area in terms of phonetic and prosodic variations compared to a comparison group of Italian speakers in the province of Catania.
