Depuis 2008, le Créahm-Bruxelles et l'Espace Catastrophe allient leurs ambitions et leurs compétences spécifiques pour réaliser un spectacle de cirque contemporain avec des personnes handicapées mentales. Trois ans de travail, d'entraînements, de recherches, de laboratoires avec des artistes professionnels, de formation et d'aventures rocambolesques ont abouti à la création de "Complicités", en février 2011, au Théâtre Varia, à Bruxelles. Onze artistes handicapés mentaux, quatre circassiens, deux comédiens et un musicien, sous la conduite de la metteuse en scène Catherine Magis, ont ému le public jusqu'aux larmes, par la puissance expressive et l'inestimable complicité du groupe.En images et en récits, le présent ouvrage retrace le parcours de création du spectacle, relate les premières représentations à Bruxelles et décrit les premières routes de la diffusion, à Liège, Toulouse, Fossano et Belgrade. En chemin, c'est autant l'art du cirque contemporain que les notions d'intégration qui forment le cœur de la réflexion. Les nombreux témoignages d'artistes, de parents, de programmateurs ou de spectateurs invitent à vivre et comprendre de l'intérieur une aventure exceptionnelle. Une aventure qui ouvre les perspectives d'une société plus juste.

Verborgen Werelden brengt een overzicht van de belangrijkste kunstenaars, thema's en genres binnen de outsiderkunst. Outsiderkunst is geen artistieke stroming maar een overkoepelende benaming voor kunst gemaakt in de marge. Dit werk is spontaan en authentiek, direct en krachtig en houdt weinig rekening met modes en traditie. De kwaliteit van deze kunst wordt vandaag erkend en is aanleiding tot debat in de kunstwereld. Aan de hand van honderden werken afkomstig uit de collecties die te zien zijn in het Museum Dr. Guislain, gaan de auteurs in dit boek op zoek naar indelingen, thema's, motieven en stijlkenmerken. Een internationaal redactieteam bespreekt het werk van belangrijke outsiderkunstenaars als Willem van Genk, Nek Chand en Oswald Tschirtner.
