In 1928-32 Le Corbusier visited Spain, in five different trips: official visits, or travel in the company of his brother, Pierre Jeanneret, and Fernand Léger. His impressions during these journeys are recorded in the form of notes and sketches in two carnets. Le Corbusier wrote down his observations, captured architectural details, landscapes, female figures. The two notebooks, now conserved at Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris, are reproduced in this facsimile edition that combines, in a boxed set, the carnet C10 and the carnet Barcelone/Barrio Chino/Majorque 1931 – actually from 1932 – as well as the essay by the scholar Juan José Lahuerta, revealing their significance through careful, in-depth critical study. This publication marks another step in the important facsimile publishing initiative, in collaboration with Fondation Le Corbusier, of the notebooks of the French architect.
