"De toutes les chaines sur le Cantîque des Cantiques, la plus riche est l'Épitomé de Procope de Gaza: elle contient 390 péricopes exégetiques empruntées à une dizaine d'auteurs, dont les plus cités sont: Grégoire de Nysse, Nil d'Ancyre, Origène, Cyrille d'Alexandrie, Philon de Karpasia et Apollinaire de Laodicéee. L'intérêt documentaire de l'Épitomé de Procope est incontestable: il est seul à nous faire connaître les interprétations du Cantique élaborées par Cyrille d'Alexandrie et par Apollinaire de Laodicée. De plus, il a conservé en grec une soixantaine de fragments du grand Commentaire d'Origène. Outre son intérêt documentaire, l'Épitomé offre un tableau contrasté de l'exégèse ancienne du Cantique: le caténiste a pris comme référence les Homélies de Grégoire de Nysse, qu'il confronte avec d'autres commentaires, d'inspiration principalement alexandrine, rédigés entre le 3e et le 5e siècle, de manière a ouvrir le plus largement possible l'interprétation du texte biblique. Cette nouvelle édition, qui repose sur un inventaire complet de la tradition manuscrite, remplace celle qu'Angelo Mai avait procurée en 1837, d'après un manuscrit tardif où les sigles d'auteurs sont souvent erronés. A facsimile reproduction of Adolf von Harnack’s book of the minutes of the 1897-1928 church fathers commission, with a diplomatic transcript. This volume provides extensive insight into the work of the church fathers commission, which since 1891, within the Prussian Academy of Science, was in charge of editing the Griechische Christliche Schriftsteller and which has continued up to the present its activities of publication and research within the context of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. The editor presents here the book of minutes which Adolf von Harnack kept from 1897 to 1928 for the church fathers commission, and in which he noted the discussions and results of their meetings. The historical document of the famous church historian, informative for the history of patristic studies, is presented here both as a facsimile of the original, as well as made available in a diplomatic transcript by Stefan Rebenich. Christoph Markschies sketches the scholarly and historical context of Adolf von Harnack’s book of minutes from a present-day perspective. The fourth instalment of the first part of VolumeIII of Athanasius' Works continues the publication of documents on the Arian conflict started by Hans-Georg Opitz in 1934 and 1935. Following on from the third instalment, which ended with the Formula makrostichos, the fourth instalment now includes the four Sirmian formulae, the texts of the Synods of Rimini/ Seleukia/Constantinople 359/360 and the Synod of Alexandria 362 together with a German translation. A bibliography and index are appended to the fascicle.
