Die berühmteste Kapelle des 20. Jahrhunderts The pilgrimage church Notre-Dame-du-Haut in Ronchamp (1950-54), an icon of modern architecture, represents one of the central buildings of Le Corbusier's late period. Located on a high plateau in the Vosges above Belfort, this building is an unsurpassed work of art which also fits uniquely into its physical surroundings. La chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Haut, dont la conception débute en 1950 et la construction s'achève en 1955, est le premier projet d'architecture religieuse réalisé par Le Corbusier. La chapelle fait figure de manifeste dans l'œuvre de Le Corbusier. Elle a nourri bien des polémiques au moment de son édification. Aujourd'hui, la chapelle de Ronchamp est sans doute le bâtiment le plus visité de Le Corbusier et le site est devenu un pèlerinage architectural, à l'instar des hauts-lieux du patrimoine mondial.
