L’ouvrage propose une étude de la première anthologie entièrement consacrée à la poésie féminine, publiée à Lucques en 1559. À travers ce projet, l’éditeur Lodovico Domenichi démontre la très haute compétence des femmes en matière de poésie pétrarquiste et désigne Vittoria Colonna comme un exemple à suivre sur les plans éthique et lyrique.

Durant les vingt premières années du XVIe siècle, à la suite de la chute de la dynastie aragonaise, peu d’expériences poétiques parviennent à se cristalliser en un recueil d’une quelque importance, avant et également après la publication des Rime de Sannazaro (1530). La parution, en 1519 à Naples, chez Sigismondo Mayr, de la Gelosia del Sole de Girolamo Britonio est l’un des exemples les plus significatifs car il s’agit d’un recueil, dédié à Vittoria Colonna, formé de 454 poèmes (345 sonnets, 43 chansons, 37 madrigaux, 20 sextines, dont 7 doubles, 7 ballades et 2 compositions en tercets). La présente contribution propose un cadre de l’œuvre dans cette période de transition et fournit l’édition critique commentée du texte, réalisée à partir de l’édition princeps de 1519.

In Poetry and Censorship Jennifer Helm offers insight into motives and strategies of Counter-Reformation censorship of poetry in Italy. Materials of Roman censorial authorities reveal why the control of poetry and of its reception was crucial to Counter-Reformation cultural politics. Censorship of poetry should enable the church to influence human inner life that ---from thought and belief to fantasy and feeling--- was evolving considerably at that time. The control of poetic genres and modes of writing played an important part here. Yet, to what extent censorship could affect poetic creation emerges from a manuscript of the Venetian poet Domenico Venier. The materials suggest the impact of Counter-Reformation censorship on poetry began earlier and was more extensive than has yet been propagated.
