Este texto surge con el principal objetivo de proporcionar a los alumnos de Ingeniería Química una base para cursar la asignatura "Diseño de reactores heterogéneos". El libro se divide en siete grandes temas que tratan reactores catalíticos de dos o tres fases, con diversos tipos de flujos, y reactores no catalíticos de varias fases. Finalmente, se incluye un tema que da una idea general de los métodos utilizados para la selección de reactores. Se incluye también una colección de problemas, algunos de ellos diseñados para ser resueltos con ordenador. Los autores son profesores en el departamento de Ingeniería Química de la Universidad de Alicante. Llevan varios años colaborando en temas de docencia e investigación, habiendo publicado juntos más de 20 artículos en revistas internacionales.
