This open access book provides an overview of the work developed within the SODALITE project, which aims at facilitating the deployment and operation of distributed software on top of heterogeneous infrastructures, including cloud, HPC and edge resources. The experts participating in the project describe how SODALITE works and how it can be exploited by end users. While multiple languages and tools are available in the literature to support DevOps teams in the automation of deployment and operation steps, still these activities require specific know-how and skills that cannot be found in average teams. The SODALITE framework tackles this problem by offering modelling and smart editing features to allow those we call Application Ops Experts to work without knowing low level details about the adopted, potentially heterogeneous, infrastructures. The framework offers also mechanisms to verify the quality of the defined models, generate the corresponding executable infrastructural code, automatically wrap application components within proper execution containers, orchestrate all activities concerned with deployment and operation of all system components, and support on-the-fly self-adaptation and refactoring.

Chaque année, en France, plus de 3 000 couples ont recours à une insémination artificielle. Si cette technique permet de répondre à un désir légitime d'enfant, elle n'est pas sans poser de nombreux problèmes éthiques : - Chacun d'entre nous peut-il être donneur ou receveur ? - Jusqu'où le pouvoir des médecins peut-il s'exercer face à une décision prise dans l'intimité du couple ? - Quel cadre institutionnel fixe les normes de conservation et d'utilisation de gamètes humains ? - Dans quelles mesures l'insémination artificielle peut-elle tendre vers une dérive eugéniste ? ... L'heure du doute soulève un à un tous ces problèmes et rassemble les réflexions menées par des médecins, philosophes, juristes, historiens, ou sociologues afin que les problèmes posés par l'insémination artificielle soient étudiés dans toute leur globalité. L'Heure du doute est issu de la réflexion conjointe de l'Association Descartes et des CECOS : L'Association Descartes a été créée en 1989 sous l'égide du ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche. Elle a pour mission de favoriser les échanges entre les représentants des sciences exactes et ceux des sciences humaines, notamment dans le domaine de l'éthique. La fédération des CECOS (Centre d'étude et de conservation des oeufs et du sperme humains), comprend une vingtaine d'établissements sur le territoire français qui organisent le recueil, la congélation et l'insémination du sperme. Ses travaux et résultats enrichissent la réflexion que mènent aussi d'autres établissements sur l'insémination artificielle.

Donor insemination or DI is the oldest and most widely practised form of assisted conception but, until relatively recently, it had been assessed largely from a medical perspective. This 1998 book brings together an international group of social scientists to discuss the social, cultural, political and practical dimensions to DI, relating it to the wider debates about fertility treatment and the place of assisted conception in contemporary society. The contributors consider the experience of DI from the viewpoint of all the various parties involved, including the recipients of the treatment, the sperm providers, the clinicians, the people conceived and policy-makers working in the area. The assumptions informing the practices around DI and the reactions to it are critically examined, with reference to developments worldwide, cross-national issues, the language of DI, gender, sexuality, ethnicity and identity.

Devenue un fait de société par le nombre de personnes qu'elle touche et par les débats que ses développements suscitent, la Procréation Médicalement Assistée repose d'abord et avant tout sur des réalités biomédicales. Loin du forum bioéthique, la fivete, ses corollaires et dérivés, ont comme unique objectif de permettre à des couples stériles de connaître les joies de la conception alors que les réalités anatomiques, endocriniennes ou autres le leur interdisent spontanément. Rédigée par un biologiste, la fertitité contrariée ne se contente pas de faire un inventaire des recettes ni des traitements médicaux réparateurs. Elle rappelle d'abord les réalités génétiques, biochimiques et physiologiques qui autorisent la conception. Elle aborde ensuite avec méthode les alternatives thérapeutiques qui permettent d'espérer une conception lorsqu'un ou plusieurs paramètrres, chez l'homme, la femme ou les deux, pêchent par défaut ou par excès. De la mise au point clinique à la fivete, l'auteur aborde les différentes ressources thérapeutiques offertes aujourd'hui par les PMA en en détaillant le " pourquoi " et le " comment ", les avantages mais aussi les limites. Sans concession et avec le recul pondéré dû à plus de dix ans de pratique quotidienne. Le texte est assorti d'un lexique qui offre une définition à près de 300 mots et acronymes liés aux PMA et à la reproduction en général. L'ouvrage apparaît donc comme un recours nécessaire sinon indispensable pour toute personne concernée par cette problématique, que ce soit à titre personnel ou professionnel.
