"Human-Gut Microbiome: Establishment and Interactions gives an overview of microbiome establishments in humans and basic technologies used to decipher the structure and function of gut microbiome. Other sections focus on the application of microbiomics in different disease manifestations, such as obesity, diabetes, and more. The book provides the basics, as well as mechanistic knowledge underpinning the structural and functional understanding of the microbiome. With the advancement in omics technologies, as well as the development of bioinformatic tools, much research has been undertaken to decipher the microbiomes of different hosts. This research is generating valuable insights into micro-ecological niches and their impact on humans, hence this new release covers these new insights. The book will be a valuable resource for scientists, researchers, postgraduate and graduate students who are interested in understanding the impact and importance of the omics approach to humans and their microbiomes. Provides an overview of the recent developments in meta-omics technologies. Serves as a unique reference for healthcare professionals, pursuing research on gut homeostasis, and functional foods, as well as nutritional dietary management. Focuses on the application of microbiomics in different disease manifestations, such as obesity, diabetes, and more."--

"As in the first edition, the intention is to write a book that provides a concise, student-friendly account of parasites and parasite relationships that is supported by case studies and suggestions for student projects. The case studies will be topical and include examples such as the problems caused by wars in Syria and Yemen, the mass movement of migrants and the confinement of people in refugee camps. It is intended that the self-assessment quizzes will be moved from the text and placed entirely within web-based support material. This will save on text and allow the web-support material to be expanded. The book is currently copiously illustrated and some of these are in colour. The quizzes and photos will be reviewed and where new and better photos are available, we will make use of them. AG will take as many possible of these himself to avoid copyright issues. There is a strong focus on parasite interactions with other pathogens and in particular parasite-virus interactions, as well as a consideration of how host behavior contributes to the spread of infections. There is a consideration of the positive aspects of parasite infections and how humans have used parasites for their own advantage (these are topics that are not often mentioned in parasitology textbooks) and also how parasite infections affect the welfare of captive and domestic animals. There is an emphasis on recent research throughout and each chapter ends with a brief discussion of future developments. The field of parasite diagnostics has seen several major advancements over the last seven years and therefore the new developments will be included. The intention is to keep the same 10 chapter headings as in the current edition with an additional one on molecular parasitology"--

"Our body is not sterile and harbors enumerable microflora that are now being understood to play a complex role in immune regulation and shaping of the immune system in a continuous and dynamic way. In 8 chapters, Microbial Crosstalk with Immune System: New Insights in Therapeutics provides an overall introduction with special focus on how the immune system which is specifically geared to get rid of non-self-antigens, allows numerous microbes to colonize the human body. In the presence of microbes there are several observations that suggest that there are multiple roles that are played by these microbes in tumor progression and shaping of our immune system which is explained at length in subsequent chapters."--

Recent Advances and Future Perspectives of Microbial Metabolites: Applications in Biomedicine sheds new light on various applications of microbial metabolites in the biomedical sector. The purpose of this book is to integrate the latest research advancements on the application of microbial metabolites in the medical industry into a single platform. In 10 chapters, the significance of biomedical applications and future therapeutic applications of microbial metabolites in human health are highlighted. Several chapters are dedicated to the role of microbial metabolites in precision medicine like the impact of the activities of microbial metabolites in antitumor and antidiabetic agents and immunosuppressive activities. It also provides a roadmap for drugs discovery based on antimicrobial products and the effect of microbial metabolites on humans’ health and the immune system. The book finalizes with a chapter on the use of microbial metabolites in OMICS technology. Recent Advances and Future Perspectives of Microbial Metabolites: Applications in Biomedicine targets researchers from both academia and industry, professors, and graduate students from microbiology, molecular biology, biotechnology, and immunology.
