Abstract

This book includes 13 papers concerning some of the recent progress in the theory of function spaces and its applications. The involved function spaces include Morrey and weak Morrey spaces, Hardy-type spaces, John–Nirenberg spaces, Sobolev spaces, and Besov and Triebel–Lizorkin spaces on different underlying spaces, and they are applied in the study of problems ranging from harmonic analysis to potential analysis and partial differential equations, such as the boundedness of paraproducts and Calderón operators, the characterization of pointwise multipliers, estimates of anisotropic logarithmic potential, as well as certain Dirichlet problems for the Schrödinger equation.

Abstract

The ∂̄ Neumann problem is probably the most important and natural example of a non-elliptic boundary value problem, arising as it does from the Cauchy-Riemann equations. It has been known for some time how to prove solvability and regularity by the use of L2 methods. In this monograph the authors apply recent methods involving the Heisenberg group to obtain parametricies and to give sharp estimates in various function spaces, leading to a better understanding of the ∂̄ Neumann problem. The authors have added substantial background material to make the monograph more accessible to students.Originally published in 1977.The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. Abstract

This book presents a development of the basic facts about harmonic analysis on local fields and the n-dimensional vector spaces over these fields. It focuses almost exclusively on the analogy between the local field and Euclidean cases, with respect to the form of statements, the manner of proof, and the variety of applications.The force of the analogy between the local field and Euclidean cases rests in the relationship of the field structures that underlie the respective cases. A complete classification of locally compact, non-discrete fields gives us two examples of connected fields (real and complex numbers); the rest are local fields (p-adic numbers, p-series fields, and their algebraic extensions). The local fields are studied in an effort to extend knowledge of the reals and complexes as locally compact fields.The author's central aim has been to present the basic facts of Fourier analysis on local fields in an accessible form and in the same spirit as in Zygmund's Trigonometric Series (Cambridge, 1968) and in Introduction to Fourier Analysis on Euclidean Spaces by Stein and Weiss (1971).Originally published in 1975.The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. Abstract

The authors present a unified treatment of basic topics that arise in Fourier analysis. Their intention is to illustrate the role played by the structure of Euclidean spaces, particularly the action of translations, dilatations, and rotations, and to motivate the study of harmonic analysis on more general spaces having an analogous structure, e.g., symmetric spaces.

Abstract

During the last decade, there has been an increased interest in fractional differential equations, inclusions, and inequalities, as they play a fundamental role in the modeling of numerous phenomena, in particular, in physics, biomathematics, blood flow phenomena, ecology, environmental issues, viscoelasticity, aerodynamics, electrodynamics of complex medium, electrical circuits, electron-analytical chemistry, control theory, etc. This book presents collective works published in the recent Special Issue (SI) entitled "Fractional Differential Equation, Inclusions and Inequalities with Applications" of the journal Mathematics. This Special Issue presents recent developments in the theory of fractional differential equations and inequalities. Topics include but are not limited to the existence and uniqueness results for boundary value problems for different types of fractional differential equations, a variety of fractional inequalities, impulsive fractional differential equations, and applications in sciences and engineering.
