The question of taking the multiple use and environmental values into account in forest management has rapidly gained an enormous attention in forestry research. The EFI summer course "Multiple use and environmental values in forest planning " aimed at two objectives ; to increase the awareness of the State-of-the-art in different countries, and to identify the priorities for the future research activities.
