Het EHRM veroordeelde België veelvuldig voor zijn wetgeving op de internering en de toepassing ervan. Een half decennium na de tot voor kort geldende regelgeving kwam de wet van5 mei 2014 betreffende de internering tot stand. Vóór haar inwerkingtreding, begin oktober 2016, kende die reeds diverse belangrijke wijzigingen door de reparatiewet, bekendonder de naam ‘Potpourri III’ (Wet van 4 mei 2016 houdende internering en diverse bepalingen inzake Justitie)Na een korte situering van de problematiek bespreekt de auteur kort de opeenvolgende wetten en beschrijft hij waarom het zo moeilijk was om de wetgeving te conformeren aan het Europese Verdrag voor de Rechten van de Mens. In een volgend deel geeft de auteur een beknopt overzicht van de rechtspraak van het EHRM, van 1998 tot heden.In een laatste deel somt de auteur enkele bijzonderheden van de nieuwe wet op en geeft een kritische analyse van de toepassing in de praktijk.
