Abstract

This thesis investigates the resilience of second chance entrepreneurs, focusing on literature and field lessons within the Belgian context. It highlights the significance of understanding entrepreneurial resilience, particularly post-failure, to foster a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem. In Belgium, failure is often stigmatized, which can impede recovery efforts. The study combines a comprehensive literature review with qualitative research, including interviews with entrepreneurs and experts, to explore the multifaceted nature of resilience. Key findings indicate that successful second chance entrepreneurs demonstrate optimism, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and resourcefulness. The research underscores the importance of robust support systems, including mentorship and tailored training, to aid entrepreneurs in their recovery and future success.
