Abstract

"Distortion in RF Power Amplifiers explains that by minimizing memory effects, it is possible to use simple linearizers, such as analog predistortion, and still achieve sufficient performance. Including over 120 equations and more than 110 illustrations, this practical reference provides the assistance professionals need to create amplifiers suitable for linear transmitters, and offers new views of semi-conductor modeling."--Jacket.

Abstract

"Nonlinear Distortion in Wireless Systems: Modelling and Simulation with Matlab(r) describes the principles of modelling and simulation of nonlinear distortion in single and multichannel wireless communication systems using both deterministic and stochastic signals. Models and simulation methods of nonlinear amplifiers explain in detail how to analyze and evaluate the performance of data communication links under nonlinear amplification. The book deals with the analysis of nonlinear systems with stochastic inputs and establishes the performance metrics of communication systems with regard to nonlinearity. The relationship between nonlinear system parameters (which are model dependent) and system performance figures of merit is established when the input to the system consists of real-world communication signals. The book also addresses the problem of how to embed models of distortion in system-level simulators such as MATLAB™ and MATLAB Simulink™ where practical techniques that professionals can use immediately on their projects are presented. The book explores simulation and programming issues and provides a comprehensive reference of simulation tools for nonlinearity in wireless communication systems"--

Abstract

Broadband opamps for multi-channel communication systems have strong demands on linearity performance. When these opamps are integrated in deep sub-micron CMOS technologies, the signal-swing has to occupy a large part of the rather low supply voltage to maintain the signal-to-noise-ratio. To obtain opamps with low distortion it is necessary to do a thorough analysis of the nonlinear behaviour of such circuits and this is the main subject of Design Criteria for Low Distortion in Feedback Opamp Circuits. The biasing of each transistor in the circuit is a major issue and is addressed in this work. It is important to bias the transistor such that the distortion is low and stable in the entire range of its terminal voltages. This will ensure high linearity and robustness against variations in circuit conditions such as power supply voltage, bias current and process variations. Design Criteria for Low Distortion in Feedback Opamp Circuits is written for .

Abstract

Annotation "Intermodulation Distortion in Microwave and Wireless Circuits presents the full range of distortion specs to help practitioners select the right telecommunications equipment for their needs. The book details numerous design methods for highly linear circuits that help ensure optimal linearity in small-signal and high-power amplifiers and mixers. Engineers find practical advice on modeling and computer-aided tools that guides them toward successful analysis and design. Moreover, the book offers guidance in the design of other highly linear circuits and systems related to microwave and wireless communications and it includes the most comprehensive treatment of the application of Volterra methods in the technical literature."--BOOK JACKET.
