Abstract

Introduction. Conclusion.

Abstract

Introduction. Conclusion.

In the context of always more competitive markets and customers more demanding than ever, understanding variables influencing customer satisfaction, trust and loyalty is paramount. In e-commerce, the demands placed on businesses in even greater. In the context of this project-thesis, I will seek to understand customers’ expectations and to identify the variables at the different stages in the customer purchase journey playing a key role on customer satisfaction, online trust and customer loyalty and repurchase intention. The final goal of this project is focused on the sportswear company Gore Wear and looks at helping them to increase their online sales. Firstly, a theoretical research using the PLS-SEM analysis method will be testing the impact of presumed antecedents of customer satisfaction, trust and loyalty is conducted. The results obtained will contribute to the formation of recommendations improving Gore Wear shortcomings. Secondly, a practical analysis of Gore Wear competitors and their service level aims at identifying more precise and concrete actions that could be implemented in the company’s services in order to increase its service quality. Finally, several leads of improvements that could help the company increase its sales are suggested. Each recommendation finds roots in results from the research and the benchmark.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has revolutionized education, offering innovative tools that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. This study explores the integration of a serious game, developed by PhD student Sarah Saufney, into the teaching of warehousing concepts at HEC Liège. Traditional pedagogical approaches often struggle to engage students in supply chain management courses, particularly in warehousing, where practical knowledge is crucial. This research evaluates the effectiveness of the serious game in improving learning assessment, student engagement, and motivation, compared to traditional methods.Guided principally by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study conducted a quantitative analysis through pre-test and post-test surveys with 30 students. The findings reveal significant improvements in knowledge assessment, perceived usefulness, ease of use, and student motivation after using the serious game. The game's interactive and immersive nature not only facilitated understanding of complex warehousing tasks but also fostered higher levels of student interest and confidence. The study underscores the potential of serious games as a pedagogical tool, suggesting their broader application in supply chain management education. It also highlights the need for further research to refine these tools and explore their long-term impact on student preparedness for professional challenges. By addressing the limitations identified, such as sample size and game complexity, future studies could enhance the generalizability and effectiveness of serious games in academic settings.

Abstract

The World Bank's Ease of Doing Business reports have been ranking countries since 2006. However, do improvements in rankings generate greater foreign direct investment inflows? This study is the first to test such a proposition empirically with Arellano-Bond dynamic panel estimators using the official rankings from 2006 to 2009. The paper shows this relationship is significant for the average country. However, when the sample is restricted to developing countries, the results suggest an improved ranking has, on average, an insignificant (albeit positive) influence on foreign direct investment inflows. Although robust, this result should be taken with caution given that it refers to the average developing country using data across a four-year time period. Finally, the paper demonstrates that, on average, countries that undertake large-scale reforms relative to other countries do not necessarily attract greater foreign direct investment inflows. This analysis may have important ramifications for developing country governments wanting to improve their Doing Business Rankings in the hope of attracting foreign direct investment inflows.

Abstract

The purpose of this handbook is to provide policy makers with a framework to assess a tax system in its entirety, measure its various parameters and how it is administered, and defines best practices for tax policy and administration that will yield a tax system that is simple and predictable and does not create an undue burden on private enterprise. This handbook is primarily designed for policy makers and tax practitioners. The goal is to analyze the impact of income tax, the value added tax (VAT), and other local taxes that are imposed on business. This handbook does not analyze the effects of trade and labor taxes such as social security. The administration of the customs duty is unique and has been addressed extensively in the literature on customs modernization. Labor taxes primarily imposed on salaried individuals are not covered by this handbook, even though their incidence affects business. VAT has been included even though it is a tax on consumption because the administrative burden to comply with it is primarily on business.

Abstract

This book deals with sustainable agriculture at a time of climate change. It seeks to identify a number of solutions to deal with the agricultural stresses caused by climate change. These range from the identification and cultivation of appropriate crop varieties and the adoption of climate adaptive agricultural practices. Significant sustainable agricultural innovation is required to deal with these challenges. Intellectual property rights (IPRs) may be of crucial importance for modern agriculture. They serve to make R&D in agriculture attractive, by encouraging investment in new technologies and generating tradeable assets. A number of the chapters of this book refer to the principal IPRs relevant to agricultural innovation, namely: (i) patents, which protect inventions; (ii) plant variety rights, which protect the breeding of new and distinct plant varieties; and (iii) trademarks and geographical indications, which facilitate the marketing of products by providing protection for the symbols of their manufacturing or geographic origin. The United Nations Climate Change Panel has urged the consideration of the agricultural practices of traditional communities and some of these practices particularly involving rice, banana, and brassica cultivation are explored in the book. This book is essential reading for officials of governments and international organizations concerned with sustainability, as well as scholars and students concerned with these subjects
