The engineering and design of flexible bus connections for bus and equipment in electric power substations is described. This recommended practice gives guidance to the substation engineer who is unfamiliar with seismic considerations in the engineering and design of connections, and provides engineers with the current state of knowledge of the dynamic effects of high-voltage connections and conductors.

Bestandsaufnahmen belegen die oftmals zerstörerische Wirkung von Erdbeben auf Mauerwerk. Dies gilt insbesondere für biegebelastete Wände(out-of-plane). In dieser Arbeit wird ein für diesen Anwendungsfall entwickeltes Ertüchtigungssystem untersucht (auf Wandoberfläche geklebtes Glasfasergewebe). Als Klebstoff wird ein sehr weiches Material auf Polyurethanbasis verwendet. Es wird ein Quantifizierungskonzept für die Verstärkungswirkung des Systems erarbeitet. Structural assessment after seismic events has often shown severe damage or collapse of masonry walls. This especially accounts for out-of-plane loaded masonry walls. A Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) retrofitting system for masonry designed for this application case will be discussed in this work. The glue being used for this system is very soft. A guideline for the quantification of the reinforcing effect of the GFRP system is presented.
