Das COMET-Verfahren hat sich innerhalb weniger Jahre national und international als Standard für die Kompetenzdiagnostik in der beruflichen Bildung etabliert. Das Handbuch stellt erprobte Methoden aus den COMET-Projekten vor, mit denen Qualitätssicherung und -entwicklung in der beruflichen Bildung ausgebaut werden können. Mit dem überarbeiteten und erweiterten COMET-Kompetenzmodell können sowohl konzeptionell-planerische Kompetenzen als auch praktisches Können erfasst und bewertet werden. Das Handbuch führt durch alle methodischen Schritte. Dazu gehören die Erstellung und Durchführung von Tests, Quer- und Längsschnittuntersuchungen, die Entwicklung von Kontextanalysen und Messverfahren für die Testmotivation. Mittelpunkt des Abschlusskapitels ist die Anwendung des COMET-Verfahrens für die Gestaltung, Organisation und Evaluation beruflicher Bildungsprozesse. Alle vorgestellten Methoden und Verfahren wurden in enger Zusammenarbeit zwischen Forschungsgruppen und Praktiker:innen aus Fachschulen entwickelt. Within only a few years, the COMET procedure has become the national and international standard for competence diagnostics in vocational training. The handbook introduces the reader to approaches which were tested within the framework of the COMET projects and may be used for purposes of quality assurance and quality development in vocational training. The revised and extended COMET competency model serves as a means to identify and evaluate conceptual plan-based competencies as well as practical skills. The handbook guides the reader through all methodical steps. Examples of these steps are the performance of tests, cross-section and longitudinal studies, as well as the development of context analyses and measurement procedures for test motivation. The final chapter is primarily concerned with the COMET procedure as a means to shape, organise and evaluate vocational training processes. All approaches and procedures described in the handbook were developed in close collaboration between research groups and practitioners from technical schools.
