Carbon disulfide is a clear colourless or faintly yellow mobile liquid at room temperature but it is highly volatile and highly flammable. It is produced artificially but it is also released into the environment from a wide variety of natural sources like soil bacteria and plants. Most of carbon disulfide produced artificially is used in the production of viscose fibre and cellophane film but also used in other chemical and tire production.
