De CVB-werkgroep Ruwvoederwaardering besloot in 1991 tot het uitgeven per 1 mei 1992 van een herziene handleiding voederwaardeberekening ruwvoeders. Naast het opnemen van de informatie nodig voor het berekenen van de DVE- en OEB-waarde van een partij ruwvoer, dienden ook een aantal andere wijzigingen te worden doorgevoerd. Gelet op de relatief korte termijn waarbinnen deze herziening tot stand diende te komen werd besloten dat in deze editie niet zou worden gestreefd naar een algehele revisie. Dit betekent dat voor veel ruwvoeders de in 1977 (of de in de aanvulling van 1988) overeengekomen waardering is gehandhaafd. Voor de voederwaardeschatting van de belangrijkste ruwvoeders, grassilage en snijmais, wordt aangegeven dat het Bedrijfslaboratorium voor Grond- en Gewasonderzoek te Oosterbeek hiervoor de techniek van de Nabij-Infrarood Reflectie Spectrometrie toepast.
